As a tourist accommodation provider, we are responsible for the health and safety of our guests whilst they are in our care.
To make premises ‘reasonably safe’, we take the following common-sense precautions:
If certain parts of the premises, such as the kitchen or the store room, are clearly marked out of bounds to guests, our duty of care may not extend to these areas.
We may be held liable for accidents caused as a result of the actions of the staff or other guests. However, the guests also have a duty to take care of their own safety. If they have an accident due to their own negligence, or while doing something you wouldn’t reasonably expect them to do, the liability for the accident may be reduced or overridden.
As part of our health and safety responsibilities, we will need to report certain accidents involving the guests or staff.
